32 - Another trip around the sun
Another trip around the sun and man - 30’s really are the best kind of years.
I remember the impending doom I felt upon turning 30, but with that came more confidence, a lot of hard lessons, and a whole lot of love.
I would be lying if I said this past year has been rainbows and butterflies - this year has been a year of growing pains and a whole lot of awareness.
They say, with age, you gain wisdom - here are a few things I learned over the last year:
Self-care is a necessity, not a privilege.
Healthy boundaries are a form of self-care. It doesn’t matter how you set the boundary, but remember what you allow, will continue.
It turns out that when my Dad gives advice, he is right - about 99.9999% of the time.
I am terrible at “dating”.
Vulnerability, transparency, communication, selflessness, patience, and understanding are key to any/all successful relationships.
What other people think of you is none of your business.
Human connection > politics.
Find the places you’re most uncomfortable, go live there, and watch how much you grow.
Working from home is not as glorious as it sounds.
I am an SEO expert - this is an ever-evolving realm and I continue to learn more every day, but I don’t give myself enough credit.
Always, always remain teachable.
I am way too hard on myself.
There is no instruction manual on parenting - remember to give your kids what you needed when you were younger.
Extend kindness - we are all just walking each other home.
What I do with my body is my business and you equally deserve the right to do whatever you want with yours.
Surround yourself with a tribe that encourages you, holds you accountable, and walks the walk.
My kids are my biggest fans - and that melts my heart.
Healing is not linear, nor is it pleasant. Healing is a gut-wrenching, eye-opening, and painful process, but so worth it - if you are healing from something you don’t talk about, have some grace with yourself.
Let your “yes” be “yes” and your “no” be “no”.
The most profitable investment you can make is with yourself. Find what you’re passionate about, practice, study, put in the work and the money will follow.
Don’t let your fear define you, let it motivate you.
The negative opinions and actions of others is a direct reflection of how they feel about themselves - it has nothing to do with you.
I am, in fact, a baseball mom.
If I would’ve settled for the life I always dreamed of - I would’ve sold myself way too short.
Enough of my proverbial rant. I learned a lot this year and I’m incredibly grateful for that. I can’t wait to see what this year has to offer. Life is beautiful. Cheers to 32.
